How to Win More Work

The Money Maker: 24-Hour Turnaround

We’ve shared the benefits of incorporating a two-day or three-day delivery window in your service offering, but for those with the experience and availability to condense this even further, do it.  Your initial reaction may be one of hesitation, but that’s just the imposter syndrome talking. You chose to freelance in your respective niche because you know you have the talent and expertise to complete high-quality work. To pique your interest further, we’re spilling the three top perks to a 24-hour turnaround time.

Higher Price

Determining how to price a service is always a sticking point for new freelancers. For inspiration, many will do a little bit of market research and see the rate ranges provided for similar projects within their niche. This provides freelancers with a useful baseline when thinking through costs and helps them stay competitive.

By offering a 24-hour turnaround with your service, you can naturally boost these prices and make more money quicker. When a client selects this option, they are signaling to you that this project is high priority. Your time is valuable and due to the importance of the assignment in question, the client is very likely to pay a higher premium.

How you decide to price the one-day delivery really depends on the type of service you’re offering; however, this can range anywhere from $50 to $200. Feel free to play around with the number until you find a price that is garnering consistent interest.

Low Competition

It goes without saying that there isn’t much flexibility when dealing with one-day turnarounds. The way a freelancer’s day is structured is primarily centered around the deadlines of these timely assignments. As a result, many freelancers won’t offer this delivery option.

For the independent contractors that really want to scale their client base, this lack of availability is a great opportunity to take advantage of. If you offer a 24-hour turnaround time with your service, you’ll be competing with a smaller pool of similar freelancers. As we’ve mentioned in a previous lesson, this could lead to loyal, returning clients.

Helps Eliminate Procrastination

As much as we all would like to say that we start on assignments the minute we receive an order, we know that wouldn’t be entirely true. We all fall victim to procrastination time and again, but the urgency associated with a one-day turnaround is enough to light a fire under any freelancer. The time crunch may serve as needed motivation and actually allow you to be more productive and efficient than you would if operating on a longer delivery window.

While higher pay, low competition, and increased productivity are advantages to a 24-hour turnaround offer, consider the workload that you currently have. Customer service is paramount to any successful freelancing business, and you want to make sure that you are providing all deliverables within the timeframe discussed. If this is consistently an issue, you may be subject to less than favorable reviews, which can, unfortunately, negatively impact your business.

Great job. Whats next?
